Stumpin' for the incumbent (and that other admin stooge)

Ol' Wade-O must love the current board president. Why else would he commit tax dollars to the new newsletter that hit mailboxes this weekend -- one week before the election?
COMMUNITY NEWSLETTER FEATURES ACADEMIC SUCCESS AND CONSTRUCTION HISTORY
Olentangy Local Schools November Community Newsletter will be delivered to most homes in the district on Sunday, October 25.
How does Springer account for this expense? Feasel's campaign? Hmmm.

Remember, money spent on friends is not an expense. Especially when it is someone else's money.

Shameless.
These people truly are disgusting.
Let's celebrate meaningless accolates from the state but ignore that 34% of our graduates are not prepared for college.

Our curriculum folks should be replaced. Oh, I forgot...the only way to get fired from the district is crash one's car into a house while drunk and stoned, or be critical of the superintendent as was the case with Joy Piper.

The "community newspaper" is OLSDs "Pravda".

Wow--I forgot about the Off White/Taupe Ribbon Award, the Witchita Newsday "Top 50,000" Ranking and the "We Can't Compete With Private Schools, So Here's Something For Your Self Esteem" Award. Oh, and I forgot the "National Inuit Recognition" runner up award.

Why isn't there any mention of the board's Anti-First Amendment Award, given to them by the Society of Professional Journalists?

Or the "Sorry Kids, we took your library for Andy's Office expansion" award!

Come on now, if they don't break something, they can't take credit for fixing it! The $250K Shanahan Middle School Library mistake, deemed a communications snafu by the administration, that was spun as a new successful expansion nearly made me puke.

What did it cost to REMEDIATE the library situation at SMS? The original library was just fine until they turned into office admin space and moved the library into two small rooms. That is when the library became an issue, negatively impacting learning for an entire year at Shanahan.

Hey Wade / Julie / Dimon,

Who was held accountable for this expense? Who did NOT recieve a pay raise this year because of this mistake that soaked the tax payers for at least $350K??

That's right, no one. Every admin recieved their raises again this year. Accountability in action (sarcasm!)

Our Superintendent did the same thing.

And he went one step further. At his recent State of the Schools address, he announced that there would be "no levy in 2010." However, this was prior to the Board's approval of the Oct Five Year Forecast, and without formal (public) discussion at a Board meeting that no levy would be needed.

We taxpayers all hope as well that a levy won't be needed, but unless the spending trajectory is significantly changed, a levy is inevitable. Delaying to 2011 only makes it larger.

I'm no more a fan of this system than you are. But it's what we've got for now, and there are powerful obstacles to change. It starts with getting information to the public that they aren't getting from public officials.

You and I go about that differently, but with a common goal.

Paul,

Superintendents always "campaign" for those who support them. And they have a lot of resource (our resources) at their disposal.

The key is that this is a NEW newsletter, timed just before the election. So obvious.

This newsletter has never come out before? This is NEW?

Come on now....Dave King saved us $34 million dollars.

So Dave....where is the pot of gold? Is that where Galloways $40mil from last meeting is....

At this rate they don't have to collect taxes for 1/2 year district wide.
