Obama: the über socialist

Obama is over-the-top, the über socialist. Yet, more and more Americans want government to control their neighbors. And, these folks are willing to exchange their Liberty in order to reduce their neighbors' Liberty (similar to pathology that Ludwig von Mises termed the Fourier Complex). I'll never understand it.

Drudge has linked to the hitherto obscure story about Obama's apparent plan to regulate our daily caloric consumption. It's in red letters.

I don't know Jim. I read the linked article with Obama's quotes and I don't translate them as someone wanting to force citizens to reduce caloric intake. To quote the article:

Pitching his message to Oregon's environmentally-conscious voters, Obama called on the United States to "lead by example" on global warming, and develop new technologies at home which could be exported to developing countries.

"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," Obama said.

"That's not leadership. That's not going to happen," he added.

I think that he was just saying that many folks here waste and do things in excess. Something that I think should be a personal choice. Not a smart choice, but one nonetheless. Should we expect China and India to reduce energy consumption to help lower fuel prices if we don't do the same?

Maybe I'm wrong but I would be willing to bet that he wouldn't try to get congress to pass a bill limiting everyone to 3,000 calories/day.
